Privacy

How Nan Made It collects, uses and protects personal information.

1. Our Commitment To Your Privacy

Nan Made It (ABN 40 366 975 511) is a social enterprise under Madame Monet, part of Lamoureux Lane. We respect the privacy of every maker and every customer who uses this marketplace. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the 13 Australian Privacy Principles.

2. What We Collect

  • Your name, email address and delivery or postal address.
  • Payment information processed through Stripe. Nan Made It never stores your full card details.
  • The ABN and business details a maker gives us when she opens her shop.
  • Your order history, the messages you send through the marketplace, and anything you write to us.
  • Technical information such as your IP address and your device or browser, for security and so the site works well.

3. How We Collect It

We collect personal information directly from you when you open an account, list a piece, place an order, write to a maker or write to us. We also collect some information automatically through your use of the site (such as cookies), and from our service providers (such as Stripe, when it confirms a payment).

4. Why We Collect, Use And Disclose It

  • To create and look after your account.
  • To process orders and payments.
  • So makers and customers can write to one another.
  • To answer you when you write to us.
  • To run The Lending Table and anything else we offer makers.
  • To meet our legal obligations.
  • To make the marketplace better and, with your consent, to send you news that is genuinely worth having.

5. Who We Share It With

We disclose personal information only where it is needed to run the marketplace:

  • Stripe, which processes every payment securely.
  • The companies that host this website and carry our email.
  • Government or regulatory bodies, where the law requires it.

We do not sell personal information to anybody.

6. Overseas Disclosure

Some of our service providers, including Stripe, may store or process information on servers outside Australia, including the United States. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to make sure your information keeps being handled in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

7. Keeping It Safe

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, so we encourage everybody to use a strong password that is not used anywhere else.

8. Letters From Us

We hate spam as much as you do, and we write accordingly: seldom, only when it is worth your time, and always with a way to say no more.

What makers receive. As a maker you may occasionally hear from us about things that genuinely help your work and your shop: a photographer to help you photograph your pieces, a mentor to help you talk about your work with confidence, a workshop, a session with somebody who knows your craft. These are things Nan Made It organises, and often pays for, to help you and your shop. They are never offers from outside companies, and they never involve handing your details to anybody else.

What customers receive. As a customer you will only occasionally hear from us, for something worth knowing about. We do not send frequent or unnecessary marketing.

Our promise. We will never sell your email address or your details. We will never share them with anybody for their own marketing. Every letter that is marketing includes a clear way to unsubscribe, and we act on it at once. We only send direct marketing with your consent or as the law otherwise allows, including the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

9. Reaching And Correcting Your Information

You may ask to see, or to correct, the personal information we hold about you at any time by writing to yum@nanmade.com.au with the subject “Privacy Request”. We will answer within a reasonable time. You can also change your own name, email address and details yourself from your account at any time.

10. Data Breaches

If an eligible data breach happens that is likely to cause serious harm, we will tell the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

11. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please write to us first at yum@nanmade.com.au. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may lodge a complaint with the OAIC at oaic.gov.au.

12. Changes To This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page.

13. Write To Us
